Lydia Ogden, PhD, MPP

GLOBAL PUBLIC HEALTH R&D POLICY AND ENGAGEMENT LEAD, JOHNSON & JOHNSON
Lydia Ogden serves as the current head of INTREPID’S policy and advocacy work group. She leads health policy and engagement for Johnson & Johnson Global Public Health R&D. In this role, she crafts ecosystem strategy to drive attention and support for research to address emerging, expanding, and entrenched health threats that disproportionately affect less-resourced settings. Before joining GPH R&D, Lydia founded a successful global public health partnerships consultancy, All Access Health, and served a roster of clients spanning small NGOs to major pharmaceutical companies and international foundations. From 2013 to 2019, she led Merck Vaccines' global public policy, government affairs, and program partnerships team and the company’s engagement with multilateral organizations. Prior to Merck, she held a variety of senior leadership roles at the U.S. CDC over nearly 25 years, including Associate Director for Policy for the Global AIDS Program, charged with implementing PEPFAR; Associate Director for Science in the agency’s overarching policy office; and Director of the Office of Health Reform operationalizing the Affordable Care Act. She holds a Master’s in Literature from Vanderbilt University; a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School; and a PhD in health policy and political science from Emory University.
