Determining Value: A Biotech Industry Discussion on Value Assessments and Alternative Proposals

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (EDT), Tuesday, June 6, 2023 ・ Session Room 210A
Determining Value: Perspectives on Value Assessments, Value Calculations, and a Discussion of Ways to Enhance Current Methods and Narratives and Wholistically Assess a Medicine’s Value

Much has been discussed surrounding the “value” an innovative medicine brings to a patient but little has been said about how that value is determined and why these assessment methodologies are deployed. Industry stakeholders will unpack the concept of value and discuss methods for patients, investors, providers, and manufacturers to have a voice in how the ecosystem thinks about a medicine’s value – both to a patient and to the broader ecosystem of stakeholders who are impacted by innovation and medical interventions. Hear from a broad array of industry stakeholders: investors; manufacturers; non-profits; and patient advocates as we discuss how to transition the narrative surrounding value to one that fairly and comprehensively assesses the true innovation delivered by novel biotech therapies.
