Sonali Chopra, MBA, MPH

Sonali Chopra is the Executive Director of Patient Advocacy Relations at Genentech. In this role, she leads a team responsible for partnering with patient advocates, caregivers and thought leaders to understand the experiences and needs of the patient community and bring those patient perspectives into Genentech.
Throughout her 13 years at Genentech, Sonali has served in a variety of leadership positions in Patient Advocacy Relations. Prior to her current role, she designed and led the team focused on all non-oncology therapeutic areas. As Executive Director, Sonali is proud of creating the team’s regional arm that focuses on local and regional patient advocacy groups, and of her contributions to the health equity work across the enterprise, focusing on marginalized and underserved communities.
Before joining Genentech, Sonali was manager of healthcare reimbursement and access at Bayer HealthCare. Prior to that, she led initiatives with the nonprofit Lesotho-Boston Health Alliance that rebuilt the organizational structure of two pilot hospitals in Lesotho, Africa, and laid the groundwork for a grant to study cervical cancer. She also worked as a healthcare consultant for Lash Group advising clients on reimbursement launch strategies and as a patient resource counselor and research analyst for Documedics.
Sonali was selected as a 2023 delegate of Leadership California, a program designed to catalyze distinguished women leaders who want to increase their significance and impact in their workplace and community.
Sonali holds master’s degrees in business administration and public health from Boston University and a bachelor’s in integrative biology from the University of California Berkeley. She lives in San Francisco with her husband, two young boys, and her mother.
