Mansfield Bio-Incubator’s Phase I 10,000 square foot facility opened in 2017. Phase II extension, partially financed by a $2M Massachusetts Life Science Center’s Capital Program Grant opened in 2022. The facility is a mixture of state-of-the art shared and private laboratory spaces, shared and private offices, and open event space. Over the 2017-2023 time periods, Mansfield Bio-Incubator served close to 50 startups including 10 with female founders and four (4) femtech companies. These startups have contributed to the Massachusetts economy by hiring dozens of employees and interns and raising over $320 million during 2017‐2022, because they could afford to launch and flourish in an environment that facilitated these results. In 2023 Mansfield Bio-Incubator received MassEcon’s Team Massachusetts Impact Awards to recognize its contributions to the Massachusetts economy.

For example, Phenomenex, a Danaher company, has established its East Coast Laboratory in one of the private suites. The laboratory houses top-of-the-line analytical instruments worth several million dollars. These include mass spectrometers (MS), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and other related instruments. Phenomenex provides critical support to the member companies allowing access to the expensive instrumentation required training and has already established working relations with several of our member companies and faculty at Wheaton College.

Currently, Mansfield Bio-Incubator hosts close to 30 startups working on diverse, groundbreaking projects. These include targeting triple-negative breast cancer, animal health, women's health, fertility diagnostics, cholera infections, and others. More information can be found below.
