Erin Foley

Erin Foley is counsel and registered patent attorney who advises clients in the fields of gene editing, gene therapy, RNA medicines, monoclonal antibodies, CAR-T and stem cell therapies, vaccines, antimicrobial therapies, viral vector engineering, DNA sequencing, and food science. She designs and implements global patent and exclusivity strategies, IP diligence for both targets and acquirers, and provides patent support in complex partnerships and licensing negotiations. Drawing on deep technical training and broad prosecution and portfolio management experience, Erin counsels on scope, validity, and enforceability of patent rights and helps clients navigate collaboration and conception issues central to inventorship particularly amid rapid information sharing and emerging AI tools. Her work at the intersection of law, business, and science spans preclinical through late-stage commercial programs.  Prior to joining Foley Hoag, Erin worked as a Senior Patent Attorney in the R&D IP department at Novartis.
