Keith Jurek is Senior Patent Counsel with GRAIL Inc. He is primarily focused on building GRAIL's patent portfolio relating to the bioinformatics technology that contributes to the Galleri test and other research activities, but routinely drifts into many other technology areas and disciplines including the ethical use of artificial intelligence, trademarks, and open source issues.
After receiving a B.S. in computer science from Michigan Technological University, Keith entered law school with the express purpose of training in patent law. After graduating from Michigan Law, Keith left his midwest roots for a position with the Palo Alto office of Baker Botts. During his time there, he worked with clients ranging from solo inventors to major multinational companies supporting patent portfolio development in technology areas as diverse as fintech, VR, medical devices, computer networking, advanced machine learning and its applications, and autonomous vehicles, among many others. In addition to patent preparation and prosecution, freedom to operate, and IP due diligence, Keith has supported offensive and defensive patent litigation at district courts, the USITC, and the USPTO.
