BIO Issues Call for Papers for 2017 World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology in Montréal

Washington, DC (November 01, 2016) – The Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) today issued a call to leaders from the biotechnology, bioenergy, chemical, consumer products manufacturing, and agricultural industries as well as academia and financial sectors industries to submit panel session proposals for the 2017 World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology. The conference will be held July 23-26, 2017 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal in Montréal, Canada.

“BIO is bringing the World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology back to Montréal because it is a strategic location for the formation of international partnerships to expand industrial biotechnology into new worldwide markets,” stated Brent Erickson, Executive Vice President, Industrial and Environmental at BIO.  “BIO’s World Congress is inviting speakers to present the latest research and partnerships in renewable chemicals, advanced biofuels, global biobased markets, synthetic biology and much more.”  

The 2016 World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology, held in San Diego, drew more than 900 industry leaders from 529 companies, 32 countries and 31 states, as well as the District of Columbia. The event hosted 1,961 partnering meetings, nearly a 40% increase from the 2015 BIO World Congress.

The call for sessions will open November 01, 2016 to invite submissions for breakout panels, posters, and Green Tech investor sessions. Leaders from the biotechnology industry, academia, and policy community are invited to offer an abstract or a panel proposal in any of the following program tracks:

  • Advanced Biofuels and Biorefinery Platforms
  • Renewable Chemicals and Biobased Materials
  • Agriculture Crop Technologies and Biomass Supply
  • Flavors, Fragrances and Food Ingredients
  • Synthetic Biology and Genomics Research
  • Research and Technical Presentations
  • Growing Global Biobased Markets

Proposed panels should address any in a range of topics, including renewable chemicals, algae for fuels and bioproducts, and chemicals, biobased products, biomass utilization, cellulosic biofuels, metabolic engineering, new chemical pathways, regional economic development, synthetic biology, regulatory issues, new feedstock crops and feedstock sustainability, aviation biofuels, genetically engineered crops, project finance, biopathways to bulk chemicals, enzyme development, green plastics, work force training and specialty chemicals.
