Sernova Corp is a clinical-stage company developing regenerative medicine therapeutic technologies using the Cell Pouch System, a medical device and immune protected therapeutic cells to improve the treatment and quality of life of people with chronic metabolic diseases such as insulin-dependent diabetes, blood disorders including hemophilia, and other diseases treated through replacement of proteins or hormones missing or in short supply within the body. The Cell Pouch System overcomes current limitations associated with cell survival and function by forming an organ-like environment, allowing therapeutic cells to produce and release missing hormones and proteins. Sernova’s lead program for type 1 diabetes has shown safety of the device along insulin production and other early clinical efficacy indicators in its ongoing Phase I/II clinical trial. Sernova has also showed promising results in preclinical assessments for hemophilia A and thyroid disease.
