Susan M. Angele is a Senior Advisor with the KPMG Board Leadership Center. In this role, where she works to champion outstanding corporate governance to drive long term corporate value and enhance investor confidence, she is a frequent writer and speaker on topics of importance to corporate directors. She joined KPMG after 25 years in the consumer products industry as in-house legal counsel. In roles including Chief Governance Officer and Deputy General Counsel/Secretary to the Board Committees at The Hershey Company and Chief Counsel, US Snacks at Mondelez (then Kraft/Nabisco), she worked to protect value and enable the sustainable global growth of some of the world’s most famous and best-loved brands.

Susan has served as a director on numerous nonprofit boards, ranging in size and scope from an educational tech start-up to the national Council of Better Business Bureaus, an umbrella organization linking to more than 100 local and national organizations devoted to instilling marketplace trust among their more than 250,000 member businesses, charities and advertising agencies. As a member of the Board, the Governance Committee and the Executive Committee of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, her participation included a CEO search and special committees as well as serving on a small committee that helped transform and modernize the organization’s governance through an intensive, multi-year process.

Susan received her law degree from Columbia University, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and an Editor of the Columbia Law Review, and her bachelor’s degree from Sarah Lawrence College.
