Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS), Department of Electronics, Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, administers incentives and concessions to Startups, IT, BT, ESDM and AVGC companies and is also made single point stop for providing all information that facilitates the establishment of above industries in the State.
KITS undertakes promotion of IT, BT and technology intensive sectors in the State by organising as well as participating in road shows, trade shows, conferences, symposia trade shows, exhibitions, conferences, symposia, seminars held at National and International levels focusing on innovation and technologies, etc. and also has been organising the annual tradeshow Bengaluru Tech Summit. KITS also has additional mandate to support Government to promote innovation and entrepreneurship, guide, and sustain innovation activities through creation of innovation clubs, enabler of innovation ecosystems, initiate and enhance policy measures to encourage innovation across sectors like education, health, agriculture, rural development, and social sector and create an incubation ecosystem to boost disruptive technologies.
KITS has established centers like Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB), Centre for Human Genetics (CHG), Institute of Agri-Biotechnology (IABT), Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre (BBC), Nutra-Phyto Incubation Centre and Common Instrumentation Facility (NPIC-CIF), Agri Incubation Centre and Common Instrumentation Facility (Agri-IC_CIF), Centre for Biotechnology Research (CBR), Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Agri Innovation, Manipal-GoK Bioincubator, Advanced Biotech Innovation Centre for Aqua-Marine (ABIC for AM), Anti-Venom Research and Development Centre (AVRDC) and Industry Zone – Bengaluru Life Science (BLP) to promote biotechnology sector in the state. It also supports Biotechnology Skill Enhancement Programme (BiSEP), DBT Skill Vigyan State Partnership Programme, Karnataka Start-up Advancement Program (K-SAP BIO 50), Startup International Acceleration Program and Elevate-Idea2PoC seed funding program for capacity building.
