Thomas Hudson, M.D., SVP, R&D and CSO, AbbVie, leads the company’s R&D organization and a global team of scientists who work across therapeutic areas to identify potential new treatments for a variety of diseases. Dr. Hudson leads R&D strategy for the company as well as providing leadership for the many scientific partnerships AbbVie pursues.

Dr. Hudson joined AbbVie in 2016, overseeing oncology discovery and early development before assuming responsibilities for the entire discovery organization as Vice President, Discovery.

Prior to joining AbbVie, Dr. Hudson was the President and Scientific Director of the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research where he led the institute’s work in translational research for the prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. A Canadian genome scientist, Dr. Hudson was a pioneer in mapping the human genome and is internationally renowned for his work in genomics, human genome variation and genetic diseases. Dr. Hudson has co-authored more than 300 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
