Diem has more than 25 years of experience and extensive expertise in pharmaceuticals. Throughout her career, she has led a succession of global commercial businesses spanning across multiple therapeutic areas and delivering billions of dollars of annual revenue.
Dr. Nguyen most recently served as executive vice president of Biopharma for PPD, Inc., a leading global clinical research organization providing integrated drug development, laboratory and lifecycle management services. Diem joined PPD from Pfizer in 2018, where she served as global president, Americas, Pfizer Essential Health and Global Sterile Injectables, responsible for commercial businesses in the U.S., Latin America, Canada and Puerto Rico. She also led commercial development for the Sterile Injectables business, actively leading efforts in Pfizer’s acquisition and integration of Hospira, to create a leading business with $6 billion in global revenues. In addition to Sterile Injectables, Diem spearheaded the de novo creation of the Biosimilars business within Pfizer, responsible for biologic development and commercialization across inflammation and oncology. She began her career as a clinical researcher, developing, executing and managing phase 1 and 2 clinical trials, with a focus on understanding the role of angiogenesis in breast cancer progression.
Diem currently serves on the board of Verrica Pharmaceuticals, Vitara and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular genetics at the University of Virginia (UVA), as well as an MBA from UVA’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.
