The three categories were:
- Pipelines of Promise, for biotechnology-focused companies actively developing a therapeutic product or vaccine and have enrolled at least one patient in a company-sponsored clinical trial.
- Technologies of Tomorrow, for biotechnology-focused companies actively developing a therapeutic product or vaccine that has not yet started human trials but is working toward doing so.
- Diagnostics and Beyond, for companies primarily focused in medical diagnostics, drug delivery, drug development tools, or digital health technologies.
