PRIMARYPURPOSE
The primary purpose of this position is to provide strategic planning and execution of BIO’s technology infrastructure and IT Support operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and maintain all of BIO’s premise and cloud-based systems and services
- Develop a comprehensive security program, with a focus on educating staff and protecting BIO’s critical assets
- Analyze capacity needs and plan for hardware/software expansions and upgrades
- Installation, configuration and maintenance of all BIO servers and multi-user systems
- Documentation and inventory management for server hardware and software
- Maintain and regularly test production backup systems and recovery operations
- Continually monitor health, performance, and security profile of all production systems
- Advise BIO as an organization, on procedures and policies for disaster recovery
- Review intrusion detection events regularly and follow-up on suspicious events
- Work with CIO to develop, document, and communicate plans for investing in systems architecture, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities
- Respond to all technology and security incidents and document appropriately
- Monitor BIO’s production network for potential security problems and advises/implements solutions to defend and protect BIO infrastructure
- Maintain web security reporting software and firewall system logging
- Maintain support contracts and vendor services
- Work with CIO to provide architectural expertise, direction, and assistance to software development teams and consultants
- First level approval of network and desktop vendor invoices
- Work with vendors to evaluate software and hardware and make recommendations to Managing Director of Information Systems
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREDBACKGROUNDANDSKILLS
- Current knowledge of mainstream server applications and operating systems
- Skills should include switching, routing, and LAN/WAN technologies, Cisco and SonicWALL technologies preferred
- Must be proficient in current versions of Windows Server, MS Active Directory, and MS Exchange Server, Azure, Microsoft 365 and other cloud platforms
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Initiative for learning new and mastering existing technologies
EDUCATIONANDEXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in networking and multi-user system installation and maintenance

RELATIONSHIPSOUTSIDEBIO
- The Director of Network Operations is the main technical contact for all external network and desktop technology vendors and will provide technology guidance related to the BIO annual convention and other in-person events.
