Jose Freire

Jose Freire is the CEO of SapiensBio USA, Inc. a subsidiary of SapiensBio a South Korea based company.
Jose joined SapiensBio in May 2022 and help stablished SapiensBio USA, Inc. Prior to SapiensBio, Jose held the position of Executive Director in the Business Development & Licensing Group at Merck Research Laboratories, a subsidiary of Merck & Co., Inc., Kenilworth, NJ, USA. While at Merck Jose was directly involved in the acquisition of Afferent in 2016 and OncoImmune in 2020.
Prior to Merck, Jose worked at Forest Laboratories in Jersey City, where he was an Executive Director and Department Head, Preclinical Pharmacology. Prior to that, Jose had different research position at Roche Bioscience, a subsidiary of Roche Holding AG, and Syntex (U.S.A.) LLC. Jose’s research carrier was focus in inflammation/immunology and molecular biology, he has a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry from the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
Jose is member of the NYAS, AAI, ACR and ATS.
