Elizabeth Smith, MBA, PhD

Elizabeth Anne Smith, PhD MBA, Fzata CBO. Dr. Smith received her PhD and MBA from the U. of Chicago. She has over 20 years of biotech BD experience. At Fzata Dr. Smith works closely with executive leadership to define and execute corporate vision and strategy. She over-sees all business development activities including: raising dilutive funding, strategic planning, strategic partnering, and prioritizing pipeline strategies. Dr. Smith also negotiates and manages all agreements and manages the intellectual property portfolio.

Prior to Fzata, Dr. Smith was at Univ. of Chicago tech office for out-licensing and start-ups for over 30 biopharma patent portfolios. She then worked at Celsion Corp. (oncology therapeutics) where she led alliance management, IP management and technology search. For the last 10 years, at SoMax Consulting, she has worked with dozens of biotech companies on non-dilutive funding licensing & partnerships, and patent strategy. She assisted in raising over $20 M.
